888poker Announces Partnership with WPT

888poker and the World Poker Tour have inked a deal to offer players the chance to qualify for WPT Deepstacks events on the 888 platform. Also, Vivian Saliba is the latest addition to the brand ambassador roster.

Extending Their Reach

Continuing their mission to “take poker back” 888poker is stretching its tentacles wide and far. This latest tie-up with the WPT shows a commitment to making poker as accessible as possible to the masses. From the WPT website

For both the $109 and $160 qualifiers, daily sub-satellites will be running for as low as one cent.

This partnership is the latest in a series of moves by 888poker in an effort to provide its players with more opportunities to participate in major global poker events.

888poker now clearly dominates the satellite scene when it comes to hopping into big events. Being able to jump into the WSOP Main Event in both Las Vegas and Europe for as little as $0.01 is incredibly attractive. Now with the WPT joining the fray we should all be keeping our eyes peeled to see where else we might like to travel to, and consider sending the guys and gals at 888poker a few hints.

Also, in the same vein is news that 888poker has decided to extend their sponsorship of the Swedish Poker Championship. The original deal was scheduled to end in 2018 but will now run until 2020. After that everything depends on what the current legal status poker has within the country.

An Eye for the Ladies

Partypoker have made it clear over the last year or two just where their focus has been. They have signed up a quartet of female stars now headlining the new partypoker Ladies. Beata Jambrik, Louise Butler, Kristen Bicknell, and Natalia Breviglieri will now be one place where new female talent looks to emulate. But now, 888poker has raised them all-in by adding the stunning new hotshot Vivian “Vivi” Saliba to their roster.

Saliba is a former 888poker live reporter, so she’s not new to the scene at all, but her recent victory in the 888Live London Ladies Event gave her a free seat at the WSOP Europe Main Event in Rozvadov. She followed through with four cashes including 59th in the main event making quite a start to her career. Now with close to $200,000 in live tournament winnings, the 24-year old Brazilian looks ready to take her career to the next level.

Known to prefer Pot Limit Omaha, Saliba first came to note when she finished in 11th place in the $10,000 buy in PLO Championship Event during the WSOP in Las Vegas this summer. The $47,923 prize money was enough to tempt her to enter the main event where she finished in a highly respectable 421st place cashing another $27,743 for her trip.

“I prefer PLO because there is way more action compared to Hold’em what makes it more enjoyable to play. A lot of players are new to the game and make many mistakes which is obviously good for me as a professional poker player.”

Chris Moorman Wins 26th Triple Crown

888poker Brand Ambassador Chris Moorman has won his 26th Online Triple Crown. The accolade is a long-standing award on the PocketFives website whereby a player must win three different tournaments on three different networks within seven days. There must be a guarantee of $10,000 and at least 100 players.

In a recent interview with Pokerstrategy.com Moorman was asked if his number of Triple Crowns is his most important record. Surprisingly, he answered

“I’m not playing so much online so it’s not as big a deal for me, I’d love more than anything to get the live Triple Crown, to have two out of three that would be a really big thing for me. Still not that many people have done it and having played ten years of live poker before I got the WSOP bracelet, having only got the WPT title that wasn’t much to show for it. To finally get the bracelet was huge, now I want to get the full set.”

In second place on the list is Nicolas 'PokerKaiser' Fierro with 21 Triple Crowns, who is well clear of third place with only 11.

The live version is based on victories in the WSOP, EPT, and WPT. With the EPT now rebranded by Pokerstars, a Championship win would be considered a natural replacement, rather than the lower buy in Festival events.

Moorman is still a young man, so you wouldn’t bet against him from completing this latest challenge.

Dominik Nitsche Wins Another Big One

Dominik Nitsche, another 888poker Brand Ambassador, has hit the headlines once more at the WSOP Europe after winning the $111,111 buy-in High Roller for One Drop for a whopping €3,487,463.

This victory marks Nitsche’s fourth WSOP bracelet, with all of them coming in NL/PL tournaments. Phil Hellmuth is the only other player with four or more NL/PL bracelets.

The 27-year old German, now residing in Edinburgh, Scotland, has racked up more than $11,000,000 in live tournament winnings already.

After his victory people were commenting on just how powerful his heads-up game looked to be. Nitsche explained

“A lot of time recently that I put into playing was heads-up cash games, specifically. So, I felt extremely comfortable all the way through. Maybe a little bit three-handed was not the strongest part of my game, and Mikita is one of the best in the world at that. So, I wasn’t the strongest player there. But I felt as good a player as Andreas Eiler, who played fantastic. I felt like I was the strongest player at this point. And I felt like I made no mistakes at all. I think I played perfect. There was no bet size, no fold, anything that I would change in hindsight. That’s why I’m happy.”

All in all, it looks like signing up to promote 888poker is one of the best things you can do for your results!
