Martin Jacobson Signs With 888poker

Martin Jacobson, the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event champion, has signed a deal to be a brand ambassador for 888poker. The 30-year-old Swede is the latest addition to an already impressive roster of stars. Also, check out the latest news on the forthcoming XL Blizzard tournament series.

Another Star in 888’s Sky

Martin Jacobson is one of many stars of the poker world that are choosing to promote 888poker. The 2014 WSOP Main Event champ sees this new relationship as a perfect fit, and is itching to get down to business.

"888poker and I have a mutual interest to make poker great again in ‘taking back the game.’ 888poker's goal is to host prestigious events with huge guarantees affordable to anyone by providing a wide range of buy-ins along with satellites to all tournaments."

In May 2017 888poker made a commitment to “take back the game.” This new initiative was aimed at refocussing their efforts towards the players who make up the poker community, and giving them the best possible player experience. Jacobson even referenced this in a tweet announcing this news.

“Excited to announce that I have partnered with @888poker and will be joining their team of ambassadors. 2018 is going to be one hell of a poker year! #takingbackthegame”

Itai Pazner, Senior Vice President of business to consumer division at 888 holdings, said

“For many years, 888poker has been celebrated as a platform which welcomes members from all different levels of experience and ability; a place to call home for recreational and professional players alike.”

“‘Taking back the game’ is about going one step further for our players; it’s about moving forwards, not backwards, and shaping the future of online poker so that we give our players a better experience.”

Jacobson spoke very highly about the long-term strategy 888poker has shown by listening to gripes such as too much tanking. The Action Clock is a prime example.

"They are a world leader when it comes to innovation within the game. Implementing the "Action clock" to all their Main Events and High Roller tournaments was the act of a market leader. Moreover, they have shown an intense interest in listening to the players and facilitate accordingly."

With so much money already behind him, Jacobson can be believed when he shares this opinion. He’s not in any need of charity, so we can deduce that he really does believe in what 888poker is doing. Working with one of the market leaders is an opportunity for him to give something back to the game that has given him so much. One of the 888poker reps mentioned how this giving attitude had already been noted in the past.

"An extremely positive figure in the poker world, Jacobson represents the best qualities in the industry: passion, integrity, excellence and a desire to give back. We're super-excited to be working with one of the best minds in poker, as we embark upon our shared goal of providing players all over the world with the best possible poker experience."

As a celebration of this popular signing 888poker decided to run a freeroll tournament with $5,000 thrown in for free, as well as $88 for whoever would take out Martin Jacobson himself.

XL Blizzard Tournament Series

The XL Blizzard series will be taking place on the 888poker platform between January 18-28. An exciting 34 events with a range of buy-ins from $5 up to $2,100 will be enticing players from all corners of the online community with some impressive guarantees.

For those of you who enjoy coming across the big names at your tables, you will be delighted to hear that the 888poker Brand Ambassador team will be playing “most, if not all” of the tournaments. As well as the biggest online winner Chris Moorman, you might just bump into football world cup winner Denilson!

As if all this wasn’t enough to attract you, 888poker has broken the mould once again with their $1 Million Winner’s Promotion. Now, winning any of these tournaments will have you scooping some decent cash to begin with, but if you can win a pair then 888poker will be adding $1000 to your prize. Make it three and you’ll be walking off with $10,000. If you’re sick enough to take down four XL Blizzard events then they’ll make it $100,000, and if you can do it five times then $1 million will be yours. How much of a difference will that make to your bankroll?

Fancy a Trip to Vegas?

To make the XL Blizzard series more exciting – as if they even need to do this – the Champion of Champions leaderboard makes a return. The top 50 will receive a tournament ticket where everybody will at least leave with some sort of prize, but the winner will be collecting a $12,000 World Series of Poker package, which includes a buy-in to the main event in 2018.

Second and third place will also include a £3,000 Crazy 8 WSOP package, with second place also collecting a $1,050 tournament ticket.

Bubble of Bubbles

Just to add to the fun-factor that 888poker seem to determined to inject to everything these days, there will be a Bubble of Bubbles promotion where everybody who bubbles a prize by one place receives a tournament ticket. First prize in this event is a $3,000 Crazy 8 WSOP package.

Main Event for Free?

Until the XL Blizzard Series begins on January 18th, 888poker is offering “Personal Poker Challenges” where if players complete them then they are entitled to take part in a 9pm UK time qualifying tournament. The top two from this event will win a $1,050 ticket for the XL Blizzard Main Event.

There is also a “Mini Tune Up” event being held on the 21st January. Tickets can be won for this in daily qualifiers at 5pm UK time where entry is based on much easier “Personal Poker Challenges.”

If all else fails you can take a look at the usual satellites which start at only $0.01 and try your luck that way.
